Subject: Subject : Braindump for NT 4.0 Server Exam
I had my exam Yesterday, thanks for everyone who had made valuable contribution to this site, to my surprise I have pass the exam with 945/1000.
I used Exam Cram (the little book with the red cover), my tutorial material, Nt 4.0 Server Study Guide (by Netrider), Transcender Practice Exam and braindump as my main study material, I also did a lot of hand on practice tasks.
I honestly recommend everyone who is taking the exam to seriously looking at practice exam like Transcender Exams the questions I was pooled was very similar to transcender's exam, the braindump was also an execellent resource to look at odd questions that appear in the exam. The question I had was very similar to what other people has to offer to this site, I will make it very brief as follow :
1. Know you fault tolerance feature such as disk duplex require 2 controller, 2 physical disk, Raid 5 ( disk striping with parity) require at least 1 controller and 3 physical disk and the space of one disk is used for parity info.
I got the usual question with 4x 250MB Hdd and ask you for the biggest size of stripe set with parity obviously answer was 750MB ( similar question appear elsewhere), Mirror set , striping w/o parity, volume set.
You must know how to recover from different disc set, this also include editing your setting in boot.ini file.
2. Moving and copying file from NTFS partition to NTFS partition or FAT partition. this basically concern with permission or long file name of copied and moved files.
3. Mandatory Profile with PDC down, my understanding of this issuing is like this if you login previously to the PDC, you'll get a cache profile otherwise you get the default profile.
4. I got one tricky question on RAS, with Win 95 using some third party software using DES encryption I can't remember the remainder of the question, somewhere else in brain dump you can find this question.
5.There is usual question regarding Hardware Profile, with Jim's labtop problem.
6.How do you activate the log file for RAS.( Thru registry of course)
7.Performance monitoring question are very simple. ( but I got one wrong).
8.There was also a question regarding how and where you configure a new VGA card.
9.Question on how to configure TCP/IP on a nonrouted network ( IP address and sub net mask), Question on Frame setting for NWLINK on server.Binding order of protocol for optimum network performance ( on workstation of course).
10. Printing, there are a few question on printing, 1. with printed file stuck in the queue can't be deleted ( ans : stop and start the spooler service in services icon in control panel), 2. how do you change printing mode from Postscript to PCL ( ans: use a separate page). it is importance to know Win 95, NT 4.0 and 3.51 use different print drivers.
11. Know the command for installation of NT, how to do a diskless installation, create 3 installation bootdisks ( using /ox), when to use Winnt command or Winnt32, to do in upgrading 95, 3.1 etc. Know how to create emergency repair disk and the sequence in using them ( 1. start with boot disk, 2 repair disc), know how to make boot disks ( format with NT, copy ntdetect.com ntldr, boot ini, ntbootdd.sys )
There were not any questions regarding Domain Sychronization, system policy, TAPI or Macintosh or IIS. That's about all I can come up with at this stage.
Thanks to everyone who publish their experience of this exam, without your help I could not have done as well, to everyone out there who is going to do this exam, I would advise you if you could get a copy of transcender exam, there are as close as you can get to the real thing, if you can get 950 or better in them and read the exam brain dump here, your chance of passing is very good.
After all this exam is not as difficult as I thought it was. Good luck!
