Subject: Passed The Nt 4.0 server test
Hi dumpsters,
Thanks for all your dumps I passed the Nt server test . Passing score was 764 and I scored 963. I administer a 46 node small Lan for a growing engineering company. I gained most of my experience there and I used articles from winnt magazine, exam cram series, sybex nt 4.0 server book and of course the dump.
1. Make sure you experiment with areas that you don't have experience with. I would recommend setting up a one server and a workstation at your house and experiment all the exercises in whatever books you use. You can't remember all the stuff plus you need to have hands on experience to go into the test with confidence.( I don't know it helped me.)
1.what is the difference between network installation start up disk and startup disks(plural)?
2.Ras server with two modem ports dial in users need to access a database server and requires encryption and the other users are third party dial in users. how do you implement ras server to provide best security.
answer: one port with ms-chap
the other with any encryption including clear text.
3. Three drives and one controller, the c drive of the first disk contains \winnt and boot files. what is the best fault tolerance method.
4.There was a tricky question on binding order and ras dial in protocols. remember there is a relationship between the binding order of ras server protocols and dial in users acces to the network. Eventhough both netbui and tcp/ip are allowed the binding oreder may influence the accesssability.
5.can a dial in user access shared resources on an Nt server?(besides netbios stuff and windows sockets).
6.when you make a Nt fault tolerant boot disk can you format it under dos . would it work ?
I answered no you have to format it under NT. then copy ntdetect.com, ntlder, boot.ini and ntbootdd.sys.
7. remeber how to upgrade nt 3.51 to 4.0
8.you have Nt4.0 server working as a print server how do you update the driver on winnt3.51 clients and win95 clients.
9.Learn And digest what Tapi means they confused the hell out of me by using this word. do you know what a TAPI connection or some bull shit means?
10. remeber the printer audit screen, directory audit screen and system audit screen. you should experiment with file auditng and share rights and ntfs security.
You must experiment not just read books.
11. if the server is down and mandatory profiles are used you cannot login.
12. remeber the difference between file audting box checked and directory audting box checked and the consequences.again you have to experiment with auditing.
13. when you copy files from an NTFS partion to another what happens.(not within the same partition to a different partition).
14.If they say just a stripe set that means stripe set without parity.
15. what is the difference between enabling gateway services for netware and activating.
16. SCsi bios is not enabled means it's disabled.
17.Is there a performance monitor counter named %disk space?
What is the difference between administrative alerts and perfmon alerts?
18.If try to monitor 10 servers from your workstations it slows things down increase the time interval you monitor.
19. how do you make some workstations cd-rom drive sharable without walking over to that machine?
20.learn manual frame type detection need to be configured if variuos types of netware clients exist.(This question is all over the dump).
21.how do you install nt from a dos machine?
22. learn the network monitor.
23. learn why do you need to subnet a network?
There were many other hard ones I can't remember I was stressed.
