Subject: Enterprise Braindump
Passed today (whew, finally finished all the core exams) with 921 on the first try.
Materials Used: I read just about 'em all! Sybex Study Guide, Que's Test Prep Core Exams, Exam Cram Enterprise, and of course, Microsoft's own Self-Paced Training Guide - Supporting Windows NT Server in the Enterprise.
Finally, last but not least this site extensively, and our own favourite Trans*der exam. (beware of the April '97 edition of this - as noted by others, there are a couple of errors in it. Be sure to use the June '97 edition.)
Secret to success: These brain dumps, Trans*der exams and lots of study and practice. I learned after taking my first exam (NetEss) and flunking it the first time, that I was still missing something in my preparation.
That's when I went out and bought the Que Test Prep book, and asked a few questions of my peers to find out what they did to pass.
(Oh yea, ok, so now I take 5 weeks to prepare for an exam, but at least by the 4th or 5th week I can talk this stuff in my sleep almost. Work a 40+ week, study 10 to 15 hours weekends, 1 to 2 hours every night. As you all know, you can't have much of a
Oh, and also, after flunking that first exam I started wearing earplugs! I'm easily distracted and with people trapsing in and out of the exam room, and a training class going on next door (which I could hear almost every word), I decided it required drastic measures to focus. And it has paid off. I have passed every exam since!
Most everything on the exam I had seen before, so there were really no surprises. As previously mentioned by someone else, if you do not have a clear understanding of trust relationships and NTFS/Share access do not bother wasting your $. I would say that half of my exam questions were on these two concepts. Like someone else mentioned most of the questions are already covered in other braindumps. Therefore I'll not repost everything. Visit WEEKEND(4.7.98) and Yancy(26.498). Quite a few of my test questions are posted in these 2 dumps as well as others here.
Memory is fading fast so here's the few I remember - I forget the exact wording for all ....
1. Got the UPS question. Power failure, server will not boot (get the blue screen), what do you do first?
a) reinstall NT
b) ?
c) ERD
d) boot up with setup disks
I chose d)
2. Server is a domain controller and also used for a Access database. How to optimize?
a) minimize memory
b) balance
c) optimize for file sharing
d) optimize for network apps
Chose c) (Not sure if this is correct. Only got 88% for Monitoring and Optimization)
3. Got the AllBackup senerios. One that does not mention putting the global group in the local 'Backup Operators' group on each member server and NT workstations in all domains (did not meet optional results), and one that mentioned the optional results.
4. One about the PDC thrashing away syncronizing with the BDCs. (No mention of the PDC being overburdened with logins). How can you fix this problem?
a) add more RAM
b) add more BDCs
c) ?
d) increase the value of the Pulse setting in the registry on the PDC
I chose d) (Not sure about this one.)
Sorry, all I can remember ...
Did have a few questions with two exhibits (up to this exam have only had to deal with one at a time per question). It was a little tricky navigating between the screens (there was one about NTFS/Share permissions that sticks out in my mind...showed the
Some gotcha's to watch out for ...
Strip set - if it does not state WITH PARITY, then be sure it is WITHOUT parity. These exams are meant to confuse, and this can throw you off if you are not prepared.
4 down ... 2 to go ...
Thanks again for this dump site ...
