Subject: NT Enterprise exam
I took the Enterprise exam (70-68) last Thursday. I passed with a 960.
This was my first Microsoft exam. It was easier than I thought it would
be. The transcenders and brain dumps helped a lot. My comments are:
1) I had two RAS questions where the scenarios were the same and only
the solutions differed. The two optional results were that 1) passwords
should be encrypted and 2) data should be encrypted. The clients
dialing in were NT workstation. In one case, the solution specified any
encryption method including clear text. In the other, they selected the
option to encrypt data. Thus, the question really becomes: When both
RAS server and client are NT Workstation, what gets encrypted, passwords
and data or passwords only? I found an article on Technet that
definitely says that passwords get encrypted even if "any authentication
method including clear text" is selected, but I can't find where it says
that data gets encrypted. In fact, the article implies that the data
DOES NOT get encrypted. I have seen braindumps that say that both data
and passwords get encrypted. I would sure like to know.
2) I had a question on restoring the registry. One option was to boot
from the ERD made AT THE TIME NT WAS INSTALLED, another choice was to
restore from tape backup. Obviously, if the ERD had not been updated
since the time of installation, it would not contain any user acounts or
groups that had been created, so restoring from tape was better in this
case.
3) I had a scenario question that included installing WINS servers on
both sides of a WAN link and configuring them to be "PULL ONLY". This
was probably irrelevant, but was something I hadn't seen.
Overall, I thought the test was quite a bit easier than the
Transcenders. Thanks.
