NT Server in the Enterprise 4.0 - 70-68

Hello there! Its me again, Ton.. THE FLYING DUTCHMAN.

Passed the Server Enterprise today with 864. I'm almost there 2 more to go (Proxi and TCP/IP). Microsoft really hammered me on Domains en Trusts today. I had just about every single scenario question you can get on this exam plus some real mind-cracking questions on users & group permissions. I studied the classroom material, resource kits and Transcender and this site.

Yancy's braindump is very good 'cause it has no answers so try to answer them in your own words, it will help you understand the the concepts, 'cause you do have to know them in order to pass this rather difficult exam.

As always I marked the scenario's and went on with the normal questions. I finished them within 45 minutes and then took the scenario's voor dessert. I spent a good 40 minutes on them plus a few "marked" normal questions on user & groups permissions with MULTIPLE EXIBITS and long, long questions full of irrelevant information which you just have to unravel to find out what it is they want for an answer. That left me with about another 25 minutes to spare (yes, we non-native English speakers get half an hour longer then our North American counterparts). I checked some answers but did not change anything as I was sure I'd given them what they wanted to see. By the time I hit the end-button I was sure I'd passed.

However Microsoft did catch me with one question, it was due to my non-native English and actually my own fault. It was the scenario with the new fault-tolerance, the question is posted here many times only they changed the wording a bit. Here's how they got me by the tail... MICROSOFT WILL LOVE THIS......

Company wants you to implement new fauilt tolerance standard......(scenario)

Required results:    Server must be able to to recover from one single disk failure.

Optionals:              Must not use extra processor time.

                             Reduce read/write access on disks.

Proposed solution:    Stripe set with parity

Here's the catch:  in Trancender and other scenario's posted here they talk about maximize read/write access in optionals.

now my eyes popped and my mouth went wide open and I almost blurted ....WHAT!!!!... which idiot would like to have read/write access reduced?..... You see "reduced" in Dutch means "slow down, decrease" so I fell into this trap and answered..

"Meets requirements only" (stripe set with parity uses more processor time to calculate the parity bit so that rules out optional one)

Reduce read/write access is of course the same thing as maximizing disk perfomance in this context but because of my native Dutch background I misinterpreted the word "reduce". By the time I realized it I was already looking at that nice green bar stating that I passed the exam. That cheered me up but I just dont understand why Microsoft cannot just create a whole new question rather then playing wordgames with the flying Dutchman. ......REDUCED, wel I'll be damned.... how could I be so foolish..

The second question on this had the same scenario (with the word "reduced") but introduced a stripe set only (no parity). We all know that stripe sets without parity do not provide fault tolerance so answer was "Does not meet required results" that is the only correct answer.

I had all the questions of RAS brokers need to logon via secure lines, encrypted passwords, data, only they can log on etc.etc.

mind you, those yuppie brokers use workstation 4 so their passwords are already encrypted (look it up in the resource kit) but not their data. Extra hardware box between them and RAS server does not provide encryption so watch out what you answer.

The ALLBackup group scenario's, read them properly boys & girsl, our friends at Microsoft changed the question a little so watch out what you answer.

Two questions about executive director Susan needing sole access to salary data on a shared folder in another domain, mind you these ones had multiple exibits and very long intro's, actually the answer was very easy but you have to dig for a while to see it.

Loads of questions on planning domains, you all should know by now. REMEMBER many questions try to lure you into the wrong frame of mind, dont answer to rapidly, READ THE QUESTIONS and know that local groups and users cannot cross trusts.

Lots of WINS DHCP and IP routing-related questions, famous Mexico and London scenario, famous Paris Caracas Chicago Dallas and New York scenario, they changed the scenario but it comes down to the same thing so you know what to answer.

A lot of troubleshooting questions, not difficult but read properly and know how to deal with a crashed server.

STUDY THE BRAINDUMPS, CHECK THEM OUT (MANY ANSWERS ARE WRONG) AND KNOW YOUR STUFF ESPECIALLY TRUSTS, DOMAINS & GROUPS.

IF YOU DONT KNOW TRUSTS, YOURE TOAST!!!!

Cram well my friends and contribute, be happy....
