Date sent: Fri, 08 Aug 1997 22:08:46 -0400 Subject: Brain Dump OK, passed 70-68, 70-73, & 70-67 this morning with 842, 941,& 963, so here are some brain dumps of questions that were on the exams that surprised me: 70-68: NT Enterprise -------------------- (1) Your company has two domains, CORP and EAST. CORP trusts EAST. Your user account exists in the CORP domain, and you log on to the CORP domain from a machine that is a member of the EAST domain. To what resources do you have access? a)Resources in CORP for which CORP\Domain Users have been granted access b)Resources in EAST for which EAST\Domain Users have been granted access c)Resources in EAST for which EAST\Domain Guests have been granted access d)Resources in EAST for which CORP\DOmain guests have been granted access (I am not sure if I remembered choices a and d correctly, but the rest is certainly correct -- CORP trusts EAST, not the other way around, go figure) (2)You are having trouble with application crashes. Windows NT support wants you to make a dump of the system memory. What tool would you use to do this? (I don't remember the choices, but Dr. Watson was one, and I guessed that. The question did not specify that it wanted a dump to happen automatically after the crash; it sounded like they wanted a dump *now*, manually created.) (3)Your PDC handles logons for 5,000 clients and also behaves as a WINS server. Which option should you use to optimize the server for these tasks? a)Minimize Memory used b)Balance c)Maximize throughput for file sharing d)Maximize throughput for Network Applications (This one actually had a little crosshairs that you used to pick the proper radio button on a graphic of the dialog box, rather than a normal multiple-choice answer; there were a few others like that in the enterprise exam. Anyway, I guessed choice C -- I could not figure out what they were getting at, since the 10-client and 64-client cutoffs are described well enough in technet and transcender, but I was not sure what to do about a 5,000-client/WINS situation) (4)finally, there was a question regarding a "stripe set" that did not specifically say "stripe set without parity," but it definitely was about a "stripe set without parity", since it did not say "stripe set *with* parity". I nearly got caught on that. 70-67: NT Server 4.0 -------------------- (1) You have a computer that is currently installed with NT 3.51 Server. How can you upgrade this to NT 4.0 Server? (choose the two correct answers) the correct answers were b & d b)boot from DOS, run WINNT.EXE from the source directory on CDROM and choose to install to the \WINNT35 directory d)boot the NT 3.51 server and run WINNT32.EXE from the CDROM; install to the \WINNT35 directory. (This one was surprising only because transcender never talked about option b, giving the impression that d was the only way to go) (2)The PDC of domain DOMAIN1 is configured for directory replication as shown in the exhibit <<exhibit shows exports configured to export repl\exports, with DOMAIN1 listed in the "to" box>> Who will receive exported files from the PDC? a)All Domain controllers in DOMAIN1 configured for import b)All Domain controllers and all member servers of DOMAIN1 configured for import c)All Domain controllers, member servers, and workstations of DOMAIN1 configured for import (That is roughly what the options were -- I had not even known that you can export to a name of a domain anyway, so it was a surprise. I guessed "c") 70-73: NT Workstation --------------------- No surprises, Transcender covered most everything. The stuff I missed was stuff I was too lazy to review from Transcender. peace, Joshua
