I want to start off by thanking all those that have taken the time to post
their notes on this dump. I also want to thank those responsible for this
outstanding site. Without the resources available here we would all be in
world of hurt; thank you all so much.
I passed the enterprise test today with a score of 852. WORD OF CAUTION:
this is a hard test. Do not take this test lightly as it will jump up and
bite you in the rear! What makes this test so hard is that it is 80% LONG
scenario questions that ask you to configure trusts, shares and permissions
to solve the problem presented in the question. I used MOC, NT Resource
kit, Transcenders and this site to prepare for the test.
Here are some suggestions I have for passing this test and notes you need to
know.
1. If you don't have a network such as a home lab to practice on you will
fail. You need to practice the topics presented in Transcender and
braindumps and learn not only how to do them but also why they work the way
they do. It will be very helpful to build a multiple domain network and
experiment with trusts and permissions.
2. Know trusts REALLY well as this is what this test is all about. Know
what resources you have access to when logging into a trusted and trusting
domain from the other. (Logging onto a trusted domain from a trusting
domain is the normal logon process and will give you access to all resources
given to your group(s). However, to logon to a trusting domain from a
trusted domain you need either a local account in the trusting domain or the
guest account enabled or you won't get in. Know also that the guest account
is disabled by default.
3. Know how permissions work ( NTFS permissions combine to allow the least
restrictive and share permissions combine with NTFS permissions to allow the
most restrictive).
4. Know what is on this dump. Research for at least the last 3 months (6
months is better). Everything on test is here in one form or another.
5. The trusting domain has the resources to share, the trusted domain has
the user accounts. When you go in for the test first write these notes down
on your stencil board.
TRUSTING >>>>>>>>> TRUSTED
RESOURCES>>>>>>> USERS
LOCAL GROUPS >>>>>> GLOBAL GROUPS
LOGON FROM >>>>>>>> LOGON TO
6. Know what types of accounts are local and what are global.
LOCAL ACCOUNTS GLOBAL ACCOUNTS
all Operators all Domain
accounts:
Administrators Domain Users,
etc..
Replicator
Guests
7. Know how to configure WINS in a routed environment for minimizing
traffic (increase cache time and set up push - pull partners). Also know
that increasing the pulse from the PDC and decreasing the pulse concurrency
from the PDC will minimize traffic.
8. Know fault tolerance, if you've already taken the Server test you know
what you need to.
Now for what I remember from the test:
I had the infamous RAS question about field personnel accessing the RAS
server. There is a lot of confusion about this but here is the scoop. Know
that when using W95, W for Workgroups 3.11, and NT to get into an NT RAS
server your password is encrypted by default, BUT DATA IS NOT ENCRYPTED BY
DEFAULT. IF YOU WANT DATA ENCRYPTED YOU MUST CHECK THE BOX TO ALLOW FOR
DATA ENCRYPTION. Don't take my word for it. Look in the MOC course book
for Core Technologies on pages 356 - 372 (specifically page 359).
I also had the question about what radio button to select in Server
Properties from the Network icon in Control Panel when you have a server
that its primary role is authentication but it also has WINS on it. There
seems to be a lot of confusion on this one also. The answer is DEFINITELY
"Maximize throughput for Network Applications". Don't take my word for it,
research for yourself. You won't find the answer in the Resource Kit but
you will find it in the MOC Course book for this test. See pages 248 - 255
and 319.
The rest of the questions on this test are on this dump and Transcender.
Good luck and study hard!
