Subject: My Braindump for 70-068 from Kelly
Kelly's NT Server 4.0 in the Enterprise 4.0
Dear fellow MCSE's to be:
I Passed 70-068 today with 862/1000, much to my usual surprise. For
myself, this is the fourth core requirement for my MCSE 4.0 track and I
feel GREAT!!!! I honestly don't know how I did so well, but I did,
partially thanks to this website. I felt it necessary to finally
contribute something to the Braindump archives, so here's my two-cent's
worth...please excuse it's lack of detail or size. For those of you who
would like to contact me for further info, e-mail me at
[email protected].
I won't bother trying to rehash the questions word for word, as it would
be a waste of time. However, I will tell you what the key points to
study are, and what made me pass the exam, plus whatever other trivial
tid-bits I can fish out of my poor little shriveled young mind.
My study tools:
1) Windows NT 4.0 MCSE Study Guide by Alan R. Carter (fantastic book;
includes Workstation, Server, & Enterprise all in one)
2) Transcenders
3) Cybex Server 4.0 books (mainly Server & Enterprise 4.0)
4) Braindumps, and more braindumps. I've used these same four resources
for all four core exams, and I've passed each one no problemo (lowest
mark was 862).
PSYCHOLOGICAL/PRACTICAL ADVICE:
* I've never been so bombarded by so much info in such a short
time...MARK ALL LONG QUESTIONS (usually involving exhibits, multiple in
this case) AND GET BACK TO THEM LATER!!!! I normally don't take this
approach, but I believe it paid off this time. I thought I was ready
for this from reading other people's braindumps, but I didn't think it
would be that bad...it is.... REALLY bad. I marked all the long ones,
and went back to them later (which was most of them). I ended up with 8
minutes left, and double-checked a few q's before I finally said "ya,
what da hell?" and hit the END EXAM button. Throughout the exam I
constantly had to remind myself that time was of essence, and just had
to go from question to question, answering them as quickly as possible.
* Contrary to Microsoft's advice, I found it beneficial to drink
approximately 2 liters of primo 100% Colombian coffee before the exam.
My mind was extremely sharp, although my heart was palpitating a little.
WHAT'S ON THE EXAM, IN ORDER OF PRIORITY:
1) Trusts & how they interact with groups, local & global (at least 25
questions, long & semi-long...no short ones, sorry!)
2) RAID, RAID, RAID, RAID: Disk Mirroring, Striping, Striping /w parity,
Disk Duplexing; recovering from single/multiple disk failures..at least
5 Q's (if you've taken Workstation & Server and passed you shouldn't
have a problem)
3) Quite a few on how/when to use ERD's, Setup Disks (if you've taken
Workstation & Server and passed you shouldn't have a problem)
4) When to use Performance Monitor (baseline counters), Network Monitor
(network traffic), Event Viewer (STOP errors)
5) two Scenario Q's on RAS; typical "Field Engineers need to encrypt
data blah blah blah..pretty easy)
6) two Q's/Scenarios where you had to minimize logon traffic (WINS, DNS,
DHCP...very similar to Transcender q's
7) two Q's on printing; one had to with priorities, the other was the
typical "Finance jams something in the printer, what do you do...RESTART
baby!!!"
8) at least two Q's on when to install a server as a member server, BDC,
PDC, ...etc.
9) one Q where diskperf -y was the answer
10) one event viewer exhibit where NE2000 was the answer...don't ask me
why, it just is
11) one Q where DHCP Relay Agent was the answer (it was an obvious one)
12) one NetWare question re: after migration, what do you need to
install on the NetWare clients (weird one, MS-Redirectors was one of the
answers)
13) one Q on Server Service optimization (involved users accessing an
Access database, mainly for files; answer is Maximize for file sharing
blah blah blah)
14) one Q on where to store user profiles
15) one Q on Group Policies...how to set the priority
16) one Q where Dumpchk was the answer (Dumpexam.exe was not an option)
17) one Q where you want to monitor usage on a multi-processor system,
what counter should you turn on (answer was clearly system: % total
processor...something like that)
18) one Q: the infamous IIS-setting up multiple web site with DNS, blah
blah blah...pretty easy, you had to choose 2 out of 5...answer is in the
Cybex book
*one last final tip...try and draw the diagrams yourself on paper, even
when they present you with exhibits...there's too many windows to deal
with, and this will save you precious, precious time
Well, that's about it. Now that I look at all the crap I wrote, I guess
I did remember quite a bit. Basically, make sure you know every little
thing that is mentioned on EVERY braindump...don't skip a single thing.
If you try and memorize every little thing in all the books, you ain't
gonna make it, simple as that. Use your time wisely, do Transcenders,
read like a mad-man (or woman), and visit websites like "Braindump
Heavan" as often as you can....it definitely pays off.
Toodles, and GOOD LUCK!!!!
Kelly
