Subject: NT Server in the Enterprize exam

Hello Robert...Just took the NT "Enterhell" exam on 12\12\97... I got an

842,and it was hard. For studying material I used the Trancender tests,

and the Exam Cram and Sybex books.

Here's what I remember:

1.Roaming Profiles, Logon scripts, Policy files- Where they are

stored...How to create and configure them, and what takes precedence

when profiles and policies are present...If multiple group policies

exist, how does server know which policy to use?

2. Trusts...Know these cold!...What rights and permissions will a user

have if user belongs to one domain, but logs onto another?...What

utility is used to create trusts...What inherent rights does an admin in

a trusted domain have in a trusting domain? Know the concept behind

pass-through authentication. Know that trusts are not transitive...

3. 4 domain models...Know these very well!!! When and where to utilize a

particular model

4. Domain Synchronization and Optimization...When to add BDC's to domain

and where to add them to optimize domain traffic over WAN links...Know

the Replicationon Governor, Pulse, and Pulse Concurrency settings and

whether to increase or decrease them to optimize domain synchronization.

5. Troubleshooting... When to use ERD...If the file ntoskrnl.exe is

corrupt you want to edit boot.ini to point to correct partition...if

missing run ERD and replace...How do you recreate the setup disks

...Remember cannot boot with ERD!! What utility is used to create a

memory dump (Crashdump) How do you configure comp. to create memory dump

file.

6. Performance Monitor.. How do you enable disk counters...What counters

to use to measure disk performance...What counter do you use if you want

to measure the performance of multiple CPU's in your machine...What view

do you use to create a baseline...

7.Network Monitor...What utility do you use to measure frame counts on

your network...What capture filter do you utilize to see what type of

header sends IP address and subnet masks...

8. Fault Tolerance...How to recover from a double disk failure when

using disk stripping with parity...Physical requirements for stripping

with parity? Mirroring? Duplexing? Which fault tolerant scheme has

fastest read performance? Which one uses the least amount of processor

overhead? Know how to recover from a disk failure when using a mirrored

set...

9. WINS and DNS...What they do for you...Know differences between the

two...How do they optimize network traffic

10.Internet Information Server...Know how to configure...

11. Routing...Know what configurations you need for TCP/IP in a routed

environment...Know that MPR installs the DHCP relay agent ,and that the

relay agent is needed for a single DHCP server to support multiple

subnets...Also remember there is an extra configuration step for

enabling routing with IPX...Also know what you need installed to enable

IP forwarding

12. NetWare...Know when to use a Gateway and how to configure a

Gateway... When to use a mappings File...How to run a successful

migration from NetWare to Novell...How can you create NetWare shares?

How can you assign permissions to these shares?

13. Global groups and Local groups...Know these well!...Know the

Microsoft approach to granting permissions...and optimizing the

directory services.

14. PDC and BDC roles...When can you demote a PDC? How do you move a

member-server from one domain to another when computer is not physically

connected to target domain... How do you move a PDC or BDC if not

physically attached to target domain? Know the recovery steps if a PDC

fails...What can a BDC do, and not do, in the absence of a PDC? How to

configure computer to never be a browser...

15. Computer and User Accounts...How to create computer account from

workstation only?
