Subject: NT server 4.0 in Enterprise
I took this exam yesterday and cleared it with 901, thanks to the
braindumps at this site and the listserver at Saluki.com. I used Sybex
book by Mark Minasi, Valda Hileys Windows NT 4.0 secrets and MOC for
implementing and supporting NT 4.0 server and MOC for NT server in the
Enterprise. I am a Chartered Accountant by profession and do the System
administration in a small network of 25 Win 95 PCs in a Domain environment
with a PDC and BDC. Questions in the Test were more explicit and clearer
than the ones I found in some of the braindumps here. It was easier than I
thought. My section scores are:
Planning 91
Installation & Configuration 100
Managing resoureces 80
Connectivity 83
Monitoring & Optimisation 100
Troubleshooting 90
Some of the questions I got in the exam:
1) You install windows NT server without creating ERD. You then configure
SCSI devices and Printers. You want to back up the configuration settings
so that you can quickly restore the computer in the event of a startup
failure.
Create a ERD with current configuration settings using RDISK.exe
utility
2) You log on the CORP domain from a windows NT Workstation computer in the MKTG domain. MKTG trusts the CORP domain. What can you access.
3) Yours TCP/IP network has 2 subnets. You install a windows NT server
computer that will function as arouter connecting the 2 subnets. You want
DHCP client computers on the subnet to be able to access a DHCP server on the other subnet. Which additional service must you install on the windows NT server computer.
4) System/Boot hard disk fails. Disk replaced. What next?
5) What tool to use to decode the memory.dmp
6) You transfer all of the user accoutns. group accounts and files from a
netware server to a Windows NT server computer. You want all computers
that previously were able to access the netware server to be able to access
the windows NT server computer. What must you do.
7) Object: Processor %processor time 8.835
Memory Pages/sec 101.155
Server Bytes/sec 84354.461
Pysical Disk %Disk time 100
What to add/replace ?
8) You receive report that one subnet on your windows NT server network is experiencing a large amount of broadcast traffic. Which tool should you
use to determine which computers are generating most traffic.
9) Usual brokers question
Proposed solution: Password change. Install RAS on NT server. Configure
RAS security to allow only brokers to dialup remotely and to allow any
authentication method. Install hardware based security host between RAS
server and the modems.
I was not sure. Without the hardware based securtiy, I would have
answered required plus one optional result (MS-CHAP). Hardware bit
confused me. I answered required solution only.
10) SQL server on windows NT server. You want users of Netware client
computer to be able to access the SQL server application on the windows NT
server. What should you install on the windows NT server
There were several questions on Trust, little on RAS. My notes on other
questions were sketchy. Still for whatever may be itsworth.
1) WINS/DNS resolve NetBios name to IP address.
2) 4 servers + 60 NT Ws. - Single domain model.
3) Move printer from MKTG to TECH. create a reverse trust. Create Global
group in MKTG and add to local group in TECH.
4) MKTG, SALES, ADMIN domains. users in MKTG and ADMIN require access to
resources in sales. - Ans: Establish 2 one way trusts Sales trust ADMIN &
MKTG.
5) Backup question.
Proposed solution: add SALES/allbackup global group to local groups in
SALES to localgroups in PDCs at SALES,RESEARCH & MARKETING. I answered
required solution only. But Valda Willeys books saves all domain users are
automatically added to local users group in servers. If so the answer is
required plus one optional result.
