NT Server in the Enterprise (70-068)
I'd really like to thank the BrainMaster, and the rest of you for contributing.
I just wish I would have found this site earlier.
Passed the NT 4 SITE test yesterday with 882. Clearly the hardest of
the server tests. I used the MOC (for reference), Exam Cram, and
Transcender.
As for the mark-and-come-back-to-later strategy. I would mix it up, and
answer some now and the rest later. Because I marked them ALL and ended
up spending too much time on the small/easier ones. Then I was
panicking during the long one's.
When I take these tests, I completely blank out. So I can't remember
actual wording, but I can tell you which questions/subjects came up.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. I got both of the broker RAS questions that involved encryption.
There has been debate about the encryption issue, so below is a paste
from the NT help file:
Encryption Settings
*Select the Allow any authentication including clear text option to
permit connection using any authentication requested by the client
(MS-CHAP, SPAP, PAP). This option is useful if you have RAS clients
using different client software.
*Select the Require encrypted authentication option to permit connection
using any authentication requested by the client except PAP. This option
requires encrypted passwords from all clients.
*Select the Require Microsoft encrypted authentication option to permit
connection using MS-CHAP authentication only. You can also select the
Require data encryption check box to ensure that all data sent over the
wire is encrypted. WindowsNT RAS provides data encryption using the RSA
Data Security Incorporated RC4 algorithm.
So in order for data to be encrypted also, it has to be explicitly
chosen. On the test they will indicate whether it was chosen.
2. I got the Accounting, Marketing, Management questions. This is
where they give you a chart that has priorities, print method, and pool
or port.
3. The Caracas, Chicago, Paris, Seattle, Dallas New York question.
4. A user from the West domain logs on to the East domain. What rights
will they have?
5. About 6 Fault Tolerance questions. Some in short question, some in
long form. If you've taken server or workstation these should be
gimme's.
Remember: stripeset with parity is more CPU intensive.
6. What PerfMon should be monitored if 2 processors?
7. The "Maria" questions about what rights she has.
8. (Copied from Yancy's)You have a PDC which does run WINS and it's only
function is account validation. How can you optimize the performance of
this domain controller using the server program in control panel:
a. Minimize memory
b. Balance
c. Optimize for file sharing
d. Optimize for network applications
I put (C) because it was a PDC AND a database sever. If it were only a
PDC with 5000 users, then I'm still confused because I've read (in fuzzy
wording) Balance and Optimize for file sharing.
9. How to display Information after Capturing with NetMon. use
capture filter by protocol or use capture filter by address.
10. 2 questions on Netware migration tool. Use of the mapping file,
and what needs to be on the NT server to import files, an keep
permissions.
11. One question on RIP and one on DHCP relay agent.
12. The Disk I/O counters are at 0. Diskperf -y.
13. 3 questions on profiles and .pols
14. The IIS question about adding 5 new virtual server domain names and
IP's.
15. If you don't want a computer to be a potential browser.
maintainserverlist=no.
16. To restart printing a document after a paper jam. restart from
documents menu.
17. View logical disk object counters when a disk with partitions is
not performing well.
18. You can't promote a member server to a BDC or demote a BDC to a
member server. You must reinstall.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My test looked almost IDENTICAL to Yancy's. Definitely review it.
General rules: If you don't have a very very firm grasp of Trusts, YOU
FAIL!!!
Read questions carefully, there is a lot of
miscellaneous information.
Draw out trusts to better understand.
