Thanks for the site!
I found the site useful for the question content and to a lesser degree for the answers(I am still amazed at how some contributors can detail questions....check out Yancy......WOW!). Yancy dump is a must see.
It really gives you something to study for. I also find that the questions force you to ask other questions and seek answers(that can't be bad can it?)
I used the Microsoft Course materials(being lucky enough to have had an employer to put me through the courses) primarily. I find the materials to be very thorough.
To a lesser extent I used the Sybex MCSE Study Guide. The concepts were well explained but a little light in content in some cases( Netware migration info was good however).
Finally, running thru the Transcender and Microsoft assessment exams about a million times was good. The answer explanation is where you really learn.
I scored a 960 (missed 2. 1-Connectivity and 1 Troubleshooting).
A few I hadn't previously seen:
1. Question displaying an actual Event Log. At the bottom of the screen is one Informational message. All the rest above that entry are STOP messages. The question asks what STOP would you guess is the cause of all others STOP messages.
Choices are:
-NE2000(this was listed as the next entry above the informational message)
-WINS
-2 others
The Answer (I think) is :NE2000
2. Question about a blue screen on boot. What is the first thing you must do?
Choices:
A- Boot from ERD
B-Start the Emergency repair process
C-boot from a Windows NT server boot disk (I chose this as B sounded too vague)
3. Question about a 5 disks. 1st drive contains boot and system partition.
The other four have the stripe set with parity and contain all the data.
The 1st drive is toast. What to do?
A- ReInstall NT and restore registry from tape backup
B- Reinstall NT and restore registry use emergency repair disk from the original install
2 others
I chose A because the original install(in B) would not include the updated Registry files for all users, permissions, etc.
4 Some question about a user who had READ permissions an on a directory and READ permissions through a group that she belonged to.
There were two exhibits to view that displayed this.
What can she effectively do?
I chose the obvious answer of READ. I am unsure on this.
Some questions I have seen elsewhere on the DUMPS:
London Mexico scenario:
Proposed:BDC install over Member server in London. Add DHCP WINS.
Replication Governor 25%. WINS pull partners.
I chose Required and all optionals.
1 on Printer (2 devices with 3 depts, lots of detail, I chose required and all optionals)
2 on RAS brokers
2 on Disk Fault Tolerance
2 on Back Up of Domain controllers, members and workstations.
2 on Chicago WAN scenario
NT server installed with Access database. What selection to optimize server performance?
Choice
A-Minimize Memory Used
B-Balance
C-Maximize Throughput for File Sharing
D-Maximize Throughput for Network Applications
I chose C. I read in a previous Transcender(for Server Core) that Access(which is not client server) should be optimized using Maximize
Throuput for File Sharing
P133 ,32MB RAM, 2 GB SCSI,F & P Server with 115 PCs.
Slow Response time . Proc 80% Memory 101 pages/sec. Bytes/sec 84363 Disk time 100%
Choices
A add faster CPU
B Add memory to 64MB
C add multiprocessing
D add disk stripe with parity
I chose B Add memory to 64MB
5 disk in a Stripe with Parity. 2 disks fail. What to do?
Choices
C-Replace failed disks, recreate the stripe set and restore from tape backup.
D-Replace failed disks, recreate the stripe set WITH PARITY and restore from tape backup.
I chose D. The lesson here is read all the choices thoroughly.
I CAME, I SAW, I PROMISED MYSELF I WOULD DUMP. Do the same.
I hope this helps,
Pete
PS: I doubt I will ever be able to supply the detail on the dumps that I've seen....my apologies.
