This is Jordan's braindump for IIS 4.0 (087). not much, but will give you some idea on the exam.

First of all I want thank thoe who contribute their effort to this wanderful site, .also thanks those who maintain this site. Right now I am also a new MCSE, to be honest, without you guys' help I can't pass these tough exams, today I jut pass my last exam IIS 4.0,I think this exam is not too diffcult , but definely I would suggest you take it seriously. I failed this exam two weeks ago, tell you what "not feel very GOOD", but I decide try again finally pass it(not score very high), so I decide to give those future MCSE some advise as follows:

A. Simulation:( I got 8 simulation)

1. Know how to create virtual site, make sure you choose the right virtual site to work on, for example, you will be given virtual site name, and they will ask you to do some adjustment about it(ex: change max connection number to 500 ,...)

DON'T ALWAYS CHOOSE "DEFAULT WEB SITE" and "DEFAULT FTP SITE" , make sure you start it(web site) before you click on exit.

2. Know how to create virtual directory, make sure you got the right directory(use browser), be care for those permission( upload = write, download = read)

3. Most importantly, Don't rush it, take your time, make sure you do it right at the first time, I heard some people say if you try to cheak those questions again, those SMART machine will reset your first effort, so you judge it...

4. Basically some simulation are easy, some are tough, just remember take your time,be careful about those traps, you will be OK.

 B. security:

1. Definely know what is SSL, how do they work ,encrypt your data , can be used on different situations like SMTP, NNTP, ... , watching those "Require SSL client certificate, enable SSL client certificate concept" .

2. Know anonymous access, how to syncronize password, by the way you don't need to provide password when you use anonymous access.

3. Know different authentication methods, like BASIC authentication(send user name & password in clear text, Both no encrption), also Chanllenge and Response Authentication

4. You can also use IP and Domain restriction to restrict user to access website, and you can use OPERATOR in property of website to control which person can have the administrator ability to control website.

C: Index server:(about 7)

1. Know "Master merge", "Shadow index",

2. Know how to implement optimal performance," decrease # of wordlist" & "decrease size of wordlist)

3.can't remember, sorry!!

D: SMTP

1. Know "retry queue length" & " retry interval" , and how to optimise max performance, decrease retry queue length (interval), ...

2. Know MASquerade domain (absolutily on test on my both tests)

3. Use SSL to secure your data , so you can post your data and receive your own data.

E: NNTP

1. Create more "virtual directory on different disks" to max the slow performance

(one tough Question),of NNTP

F: Application:

1.This is the most confusing part I had on my both tests, definetily suggest you to refer somebody else althought most of them choose different answer.

 OK, I think that is about it, Finally I clear all 6 exams within 6 months(Full-time .self training), not a big deal but definely it's a great achievment of my life. I will use Michael Jordan's word to encourage those future MCSEs , "I fail over and over again, that's why I succeed" , With persistence you will all make it, God bless all of you wish come TRUE!!!
