Exam 087, IIS 4.0
I passed today, my last exam for my MCSE.. I completed 5 exams (one of them was just an extra, not towards my MCSE), in late 97.. I did them all in 1 1/2 months.. After that, I waited until Jan of the following year to complete TCP/IP.. then I FINALLY got off my backside, and completed my last today.. IIS 4.0.
Thanks LearnQuick.Com!!!
A little background..
I must say.. this exam was NOT as hard as some people say it is.. Let me put it to you this way.. I had NEVER used the product before.. (this was the first test I've taken where I've not been familiar with the product).. I didn't even know what the heck the MMC was! I was reading some of these brain dumps going.."MMC.. why do I keep seeing that, what the heck is it?!".. heh.. anyways.. due to pressure from my company, I need to complete my MCSE, fast.. so I read ALL the brain dumps on this site (and 80% of them seem to be accurate), and drilled myself on the Transcender for IIS 4.0.. in ONE night.. ONE night.. I've been up for about 30 hours straight now.. (zzzzz....).. I got enough done to pass the test. Scored an 800, which seems about average for this exam. My tips for the exam:
Get the transceder exam.. if you're company will expense it for you, all the better! I had NEVER used the MMC before, and just from doing the Transcenders about 8 or 9 times, I learned the MMC well enough to consider myself proficient in it.. no extra play time on it, other than the Transcender.. The brain dumps on this site are AWESOME.. I suggest you read them ALL, and create a "pool of questions".. it will help you a LOT.. I read no books.. set up no test IIS servers.. just the Transcenders and Brain dumps, all in one night.. If you are a semi-intelligent person, I don't see any reason why you could not accomplish the same.. (well, you could just do 2 normal nights of this cram, instead of one crazy straight shot, like I did!)..
Know the MMC (transcenders!)
Know the 3 SQL errors (you can get them off this dump)
When doing a simulation, be sure to make sure the service you are messing with has been STARTED when you complete the simulation! EXIT the MMC via the menu, do NOT use the X button..
I'm not going to bother listing all my questions, 90% of them are already on this site, with the correct answers (if you create your own little answer pool)
If you are the studying type.. know how SNMP interacts within IIS.. know Index Server.. a lot of questions regarding Index Server.. know the capabilities of Site Server Express! Know SSL, all about SSL, and the encryption methods. Index Server, Site Server, SSL, and enryption questions were 50% of my exam.. I also had 9 simulation questions, about 7 of them were VAGUE.. do NOT do anything EXTRA in the simulations.. if it says "blah blah blah set this up, and allow access to the FTP site", but it doesn't say WHAT type of access.. leave it at the defaults, do not add upload rights or anything like that! A lot of my simulations were vague like that..
Anyways... good luck, and the test is NOT that hard..;)
