Just passed 70-87 with 872 / 1000, in 40 minutes

All I can say is if you prepare for this test, then it is really a

breeze. about 60% of the questions were from the braindumps, others were

really badly worded (in the exam) but overall it was pretty damn easy if

you knew what was potting. I left the exam with 40 minutes on the clock,

and I didnt even think about going back, cause there was no point, the

questions were either too easy, or too vague to warrant a second chance.

How to pass this exam easily:

1. I did the course (didnt listen much, so it was mostly a waste .. labs

help though)

2. Summarize the MOC (Useful for info which you need for questions -

little things)

3. Goto Patrick De Boers site, download his notes (I just read over

them)

4. Read about the ODBC errors from his site.

5. Search the internet for every practice test you can find! (trust me

there are lots of free ones, but i recommend : MSPEP, PCAGE, IIS 3.0

transcenders .. I couldnt find the IIS 4 transcenders, but hey

apparently they suck so no major loss)

6. Download every braindump for this exam from Braindump heaven (the

other braindump sites suck)

How to successfully use braindumps:

Ok, ALOT of the question in these braindumps are right, but the answers

are completely off the point, If i wasent sure about an answer, the best

method is to read a few dumps, and see what answer comes up the most for

a question.. but this is not 100% effective!! I did this for most of

them, or used my book / internet to find the correct answers... Right

now i am sitting with the correct answers to 40+ of these braindumps

(yes these are correct cause my instructor checked them, and he is a

MCSE + Internet, CNE, MCP etc etc. He knows his $hit!! Just cause i am

in such a good mood after passing this exam and attaining my MCSE -

woohoo ... I'm gonna post the correc answers for the braindumps on this

site (the harder ones.. the easy ones are a waste, and the answers are

easy to find)

Here goes (These ARE right, I am 99% sure that you dont have to check

the answers, and the only places i lost marks in the exam were questions

that werent in the dumps, or the wording was damn vague (i only got 6

wrong.. not 2 bad :)

1. How to decrease the amount of memory wod lists take up.

* Decrease the size of word lists

* Decrease the number of word lists

2. SMTP Requires:

* DNS, NTFS, TCP/IP

3. How do you speed up NNTP on a RAID 5 array ?

Create addittional virtual folders on MULTIPLE arrays (PCAGE verifies

this)

4. Error 402 : browser does not support required encryption method

Challenge / Response is being used.

5. If you want to administer through a firewall

* RPC listener port

6. You have 3 web sites, do a query, and get results from all of them...

* Use Catalogs

7. You had 100MB of data, added another 50MB in the last 2 hours, going

slow, how would you fix? (got this in exam :)

* force a master merge

8. How do you change the ports on 200 sites, contained on 2 servers at

different locations?

* Write a VB script, and run it on ONE side (Fight with www.pcage.com if

you dont believe me .. their test has the explanation)

9. Site server reports hourly on a web site, some ip's are not logged ..

why?

* Site server does not commit open connections until closed.. :)

10. From monitoring SMTP, you find the average local retry queue length

is 6, how would you improve performance for the SERVICE (I noticed this

in the exam)

* Decrease the average local queue retry length.

11. You want users to be able to search for contents in your newsgroups,

how would you do this.

* ENABLE WWW + INDEX SERVER .. NOT use the search feature in their

readers.

12. What permissions do you need to give to a virtual directory

containting .GIF/JPEG files?

* READ

13. Where are the IIS MIME types stored?

* The Metabase - You can bitch all you want.. it's in there... the

confusion is with the Win95/NT mime types (file associations) which are

stored in the registry.. like .AVI - which opens with Media player...

this however has NOTHING to do with IIS

14. You import 2 log files per day, have >900 users accessing your site,

how would you speed up import time?

* Increase the cache period of IP lookups for importing log files (not

100% sure) .. thats what I put in the exam...

15. What tools can be used to monitor performance of Index Server?

* Performance Monitor

* .IDA script

Well thats it for the hard ones, the easier questions are a waste of

time, but if you are unsure of any of em, feel free to e-mail me :

[email protected] and I'll get you the answer, cause i made sure that i

knew every answer on this site!!

Also if anyone wants to trade transcenders, mail me at the above

address, I have ALL the transcenders, except for IIS 4 and IEAK 4 ..

will trade for them .. I also have the CCIP prep tests, and PCAGE

tests.. enjoy :)
